Privacy Policy

Covers the SpoolSense iOS app. Last updated 9 July 2026.

The short version

SpoolSense collects no data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs. Nothing you do in the app is transmitted to us, because we operate no servers.

What the app stores

SpoolSense stores data only in the app's own private storage on your iPhone. This includes the filament spools it has cached, your scan history, your connection settings, and your preferences.

This data never leaves your device except as described below, and it is deleted when you delete the app.

What the app connects to

SpoolSense connects only to servers you configure and control. It has no default servers and contacts no network service unless you enter its address yourself. Depending on what you choose to set up, that may include:

  • A Spoolman inventory server you run, typically on your own local network.
  • A SpoolSense middleware instance you run, used to talk to Klipper-based printers.
  • A Snapmaker U1 printer on your local network.

All of these are optional. SpoolSense reads and writes NFC filament tags with no server configured at all.

NFC

SpoolSense uses NFC solely to read and write filament spool tags that you physically hold against your iPhone. Tag data is processed on your device. It is never uploaded to us, and is only sent to a Spoolman, middleware, or printer address that you configured.

Data we collect

None.

SpoolSense collects no personal data, no usage data, no diagnostics, and no identifiers. Nothing is shared with any third party, and no data is used for tracking as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework.

Children

SpoolSense is rated 4+ and is safe for all ages. Because it collects no data at all, it collects no data from children.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the revised version will be published at this address with an updated date. Since the app collects nothing, any change would be to clarify wording rather than to expand data collection.
